Anton Jimenez presents his new work «Guitarra de Palo»

Musical-anthropological documentary without dialogue or narrator: music speaks for itself. A trip through the roots of flamenco to its modern day fusions with styles such as jazz, blues and Afro-Cuban music. Shot in different countries (Spain, Cuba, US, Nicaragua, Germany, Russia...) with flamenco guitar as main character and with the participation of world renowned artists such as the guitarist Antón Jiménez (Ciudad de Barcelona Award), dancer Lola Greco (National Dance Award 2009), legendary New York trumpet and conga player Jerry González (6 times Grammy nominated), blues-flamenco genius Raimundo Amador, flautist Jorge Pardo (Best European Jazz Musician 2013), bassist Javier Colina, flamenco singer Rafita Jiménez, Russian accordionist Oleg Nehls, harmonicist Antonio Serrano… and the special collaboration of the famous guitar maker Mariano Conde.

"Guitarra de Palo" is a documentary-musical, which demonstrates that flamenco guitar is a truly universal instrument, not limited in its capacity to communicate with other musical genre. Flamenco guitar as an axel, uniting people and countries. A voyage through space and time, through different lands and cultures (Spain, Cuba, USA, Nicaragua, Germany, Russia ...)with flamenco guitar as the main character, all under artistic supervision of the film's protagonist, the guitarist Antón Jiménez, who shares the stage with the artists of the importance of Lola Greco (National Dance Prize 2009), a legendary trompet and conga player from New York Jerry González (6 times Grammy nominee), genius blues flamenco/blues artist Raimundo Amador, flautist Jorge Pardo (Best European Jazz Musician of 2013), upright bassist Javier Colina, the first accordion of Russian Philharmonics Oleg Nehls, the harmonica player Antonio Serrano ... with special collaboration of the famed luthier Mariano Conde. Sound technicians Pelayo Gutiérrez and Nacho Royo-Villanova, directed by Andrea Zapata-Girau.

Antón Jiménez (Madrid, Spain 1975) Flamenco Guitarist & Composer

Flamenco Guitarist & Composer, descendent of great guitar figures Ramón Montoya & Mario Escudero. presenting him at the Summer Festival de la Villa in 1989 as the future promise of the flamenco guitar.

He starts his musical career accompanying singer/cantaor Diego "El Cigala" & accompanying the dance of Joaquín Cortés in the show "Cibayí". Touring Europe USA & Japón with the show "Pasión Gitana" / “Gypsy Passion” as 1st guitarist for Joaquín Cortés, whom he also participates in the movie "Flamenco" (Carlos Saura, 1995) interpretanding la Farruca.

In 1995 wins the national guitar award and collaborates as a guest artist with U2 at the Palau San Jordi. That same year he interprets the original music of “Romance Amargo” at New York’s City Center alongside Lola Greco, Marco Berriel y Joaquín Cortés.

In 1997 he participates in the album "Storm" by Vanesa Mae, recorded in Londres.

He’s composed music for Rafael Amargo’s, Ballet Nacional (Amargo), Lola Greco (Homenaje al Greco) & Rocío Molina (Homenage to Manolo Soler) and is one of the fice guitarists on the album "La Nueva Escuela de la Guitarra Flamenca" (2004, ACT Music), produced by Gerardo Núñez.

Between 2009 - 2013 he’s toured Europa, América, Middle East, Finlandia plating as a soloist at theatres likes of Philarmónica Theatre of Berlín, the García Lorca de La Habana , el Teatro Nacional Rubén Darío de Nicaragua and teatro Pakkahuone of Finland.

All the while acting as producer co-director and musical composer for the orginal music on the film GUITARRA DE PALO, filmed in three continents, uniting great musicians of flamenco and Jazz the likes of Jerry Gonzalez, Lola Greco, Raimundo Amador, Jorje Pardo, Javier Colina, Antonio Serrano, amongst others. GUITARRA DE PALO released in 2013 throughout all of Spain, was received with best reviews and as part of the international Latin American film festival and the international film documentary of Romania, Sofia Biting Docs film festival of Bulgaria, Chicago Latino Film Festival amongst others.

GUITARRA DE PALO LIVE debuts screening in the USA at New York’s, SYMPHONY SPACE. Uniting all the great musicians featured in the film, for a live musical concert while projecting the film on stage. A total hit receiving media coverage from the likes of CNN, TVE1, TVE2 canal 24h Internacional, NY1 NOTICIAS 2015 currently working on the realization of his new musical show along side Pep Gatell director of LA FURA DELS BAUS.
